Romp to Stomp

My neighbor/personal trainer/great friend Melissa invited me to go snowshoeing with her. She also invited my best buddy Courtney. Neither Court or I have done it before but wanted to try. I'm trying to step outside my comfort zone and try new things this 2009 year and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Courtney and I met up with Melissa at Mountain Dell golf course, registered and got fitted in our snow shoes. This was a race and a walk to "stomp" out breast cancer . We chose to WALK!!!! As you will see, there were a lot of people. I hoped I wouldn't get mowed over as I knew I wouldn't be the first one out of the gate!! There were five of us together but soon the three left us behind and Courtney and I trekked on together. We got to a point in the race where a lady was pointing 2 directions. One way was a 3K and the other a 5K. Courtney and I chose the 3K. I wanted to finish alive!!! And sure enough I did!! It felt great. Not only had I completed it but I wasn't the last one. That's impressive if I do say so myself!! Courtney and I waited for Melissa and the other two girls-I forgot their names:( I called my kids and Troy and told them I had beat Melissa. They couldn't believe it! How could I have beaten her?? I told them when I got home that she had done a longer race and that's how I beat her. They knew something wasn't quite right. RUDE!!! :) We then got back in our cars and drove to this lovely restaurant called the Citrus Grill. Our lunch was fabulous and I can't wait to snowshoe again. I'm going to be checking clearance sales for snow shoes. Thanks girls for a fabulous day and a new adventure!!

SuperBowl XLIII

I love the SuperBowl simply for the food and the friends. The commercials are funny and the game is ok. But really the food and girl chat time is what I enjoy most!! Every year we have a big party. This year we had a few families over and my in-laws came also. I took pictures of our wonderful spread of food and tried to get pics of each family. My little family and two others couldn't get all the kids rounded up for a photo but I'll share what I've got. Why is it all get-together focus mainly on FOOD??? I should open a catering business. I love the food prep and presentation. Maybe someday..... Anyhow, Go Steelers!! (They were the winners btw) Happy SuperBowl!!!

Juli's birthday

So for birthdays my girlfriends and I get together and do lunch. Just over a week ago it was my darling friend Juli's birthday. I met her at Maurices on her actual birthday and we shopped trying to find her some new cute clothes. Then we went to Coldstone for an ice cream . YUMM!!!!! The next day we planned on pedicures at a local salon and lunch after. Our other friend Courtney couldn't do pedicures because she had no babysitter for Jack-Jack. So just Juli and I went. We missed you Court!! It was her first time. I loved being able to take her because the salons and spas are some of my favorite places to relax and rejuvinate! She is now hooked!! We then picked up lunch and went to Court's to eat together. It was one of the best afternoons I've had in a long time. I miss these girls not living around the corner anymore. We always have the best talks and I don't think that it ever fails one or all of us is crying at some point. Not sad tears but happy, growing tears!! These girls are the best and I am so grateful for their friendships in my life. I have been blessed with many wonderful friends that have been there for me at different times and taught me many things. I thank my Heavenly Father every day for the people he puts in my path and for the times I get to share with them. Many girls have come and gone in my life and some have been rather painful exits but I always come through it a little stronger and knowing myself a little better. Thanks to all you gals who have stayed close and make my days brighter! Girls Rule!!!
